Travel Vaccinations in Herzig Novi and Day trip to Croatia - Cavtat and Old Dubrovnik

On Monday, June 24, 2013 we took another day long excursion on the scooter.

It started with a medical adventure.  Rob realized it would be a good idea to get some vaccinations (which he had not updated while home in Collingwood) and so once again, our good friend Savo helped us out.

Savo arranged for us to meet with a doctor in Herzig Novi who would give Rob a couple of vaccines and then we planned to head across the border and visit Croatia and Dubrovnik.

It was quite an adventure finding the doctor's location and the language is Montenegrin which is basically Serbian.  Very difficult to speak and hard to understand.  A woman in the pharmacy was finally able to lead us to the right spot and Rob was taken care of nicely.  He now is the proud owner of an International Vaccination Certificate.

We finished there by 8:30am and were able to head north to the border.  We showed our passports and scooter insurance and registration and entered Croatia.

Our first stop was a lovely harbour and village called Cavtat.  I had learned about it from my friend in Collingwood, Lisa Crowley who had been their with her husband Chris Robinson on one of their trips to Croatia.

Thanks Lisa!!!  This was a very beautiful place and we spend a few hours here walking around and enjoying the place.  There is a lovely park which occupies a point which we enjoyed and the village is full of quaint restaurants, markets and bakeries.

After a visit to the local market, we enjoyed some fresh fruit and cold drinks and continued on to Dubrovnik.  The views from the highway which is quite high up from the sea are staggering.

We enjoyed walking around Old Dubrovnik but we didn't walk the famous wall above as the temperatures soared well into the 30's.  We stopped for a great lunch and will spend more time in Dubrovnik when we return by sailing here with The Lodge.

It was great to get the lay of the land in preparation for our return to this area where eventually we will return with the sail boat.

View of the Old Dubrovik Tram Car.  Tourists take this from Old Dubrovnik up the side of the mountain to get a fabulous view of the Old Town.  We were fortunate to get the same view from the road high up on the side of the mountain as we entered Dubrovnik earlier in the day
