Sail from Scedro Island to Vis

On Monday, July 15, we sailed from Scedro up to Vis which is the largest of the westerly islands of Croatia.  I am sure many provision here and then sail across to Pescara, Italy as it is a shorter route across the Adriatic.

It is a large island and famous for its wine and food.  Up until 1989, visitors to Vis and its surrounding islands was prohibited. (Not exactly sure why)  As a result, it is one of the most untouched of all the mediterranean islands and one gets a true feeling for how the mediterranean was before it was affected by tourism.

They have been known for excellent wine here in Vis for over 2,000 years!

We anchored in the main harbour of VIs and headed ashore for a late lunch and walk around.

We had some great pizza, wine of course and were able to buy some really delicious local cheese.

The cheese was only 120 Kuna which is about $11 for half the wheel.

When we returned to our anchorage, we had much entertainment as late arriving boats tried to squeeze themselves into an already very busy anchorage.

Another great day and we enjoyed some chicken soup and some TV before turning in early so we could get going first thing in the morning and head to the Blue Cave on Bisevo.
