Kastos - Ela's Bar
After a great day on Kalamos, we sailed over to the next island, Kastos.
Kastos is right next to Kalamos, so we took the 'long' way around so we could have a good look and enjoy some sailing.
We anchored in the south east bay of Kastos which was very pretty and only a couple of bays over from their main port.
We spent some time in our anchorage and in the afternoon took the dinghy for some exploring.
First we went south and found a bay near the end of the island with a lot of goats! We motored in close and could see they were being fed hay and water which led them all to this spot.
The fellow feeding them told us there are 600 of them on this island!
In contrast, there are only 33 full time residents on Kastos so the goats rule.
We made our way north to the main port, moored the dinghy and had a walk around.
We went to a bar on the second floor of a very old stone building called Ela's which had been recommended by some english fellows we met a couple of days earlier in Kioni.
The bar was quiet so the the owners, Alex and Ela came to speak with us. They are the newest residents, arriving a year ago and opening this bar taking the population from 31 to 33.
We spent the afternoon in the bar having a lovely time and really enjoyed the view from the balcony overlooking the harbour.
Alex sent me some wonderful photos of Kastos with rainbows which I will include in the photos here.
After arriving back at the dinghy we enjoyed a beautiful full moon evening. The moon lit up the islands and harbour which was amazing!
