Rome - Vatican City, The Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and Basilica

On Tuesday, we got up early and took a tour of the Vatican.

It was very busy but again well worth the effort.

We started in the Vatican Museum which takes you eventually through the Sistine Chapel.  No photos are allowed there but it was beautiful to see the frescos.

We met as lovely family from Toronto who were also on our tour and we stayed together after the tour and enjoyed a great lunch.

Famous tapestries line the walls.  This one is famous as the eyes of Jesus "follow" you as you pass by

  Beautiful Frescos on the ceilings

   Incredible colours!

  Plato and Aristotle

  Pythagorus writing his theorems

           Outside the Basilica.  Great tour!!

View as you enter St. Peter's Basilica

Cherub sculpture which is part of the holy water  receptacle at the front of the church.

Lunch with our new friends from Toronto!  From Left to Right:  Kate, Theresa, Kenzie, Alex, Ben, and myself
